Visualizing Family Zoning, a City Science Fair
September 25, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 8:45 pm

The Internet Archive will hosting an in-person event organized by MIT’s City Science Research Group.
Join fellow civic leaders and innovators as the SF City Science Lab showcases new tools to help San Franciscans understand zoning changes and envision our city’s future.
We’ll have the traditional aspects of a community meeting including a panel with community members, leaders from SF Planning, our zoning visualization team, and MIT researchers developing emerging technologies for inclusive city planning. It’s the first ever City Science Fair, crafted with the MIT City Science global network!
Like a traditional science fair, we’ll have booths. At this inaugural City Science Fair, you can explore new ways to visualize urban development, focusing on the Mayor’s Family Zoning proposal. Booths will include “Photo Realistic 3d Modelling”, “Extending the Character of a Neighborhood”, “Algorithmic Zoning and Amenities,” “Dynamic Inclusion of Local Priorities in Urban Planning” and “Smart Transcripts- search any Supervisor or Planning Commission Hearing for both text and video.
